Floodline for Kellington

Kellington is a small rural village situated in North Yorkshire, but just outside the West Yorkshire connurbation and within 20 miles of Leeds, Wakefield, Doncaster and York. While retaining its very rural appearance and feel, Kellington is well placed to enjoy the facilities found in these cities. The village of Kellington certainly does have the best of both worlds.

Kellington itself, although it does have some older houses, largely consists of property built in the last fifty years. The area around the village of Kellington is flat arable land, and three power stations are clearly visible. Dominating the skyline from some parts of the village as they do, I think they add rather than detract from Kellington's beauty especially in winter when the sun is rising and setting

Knottingley Concert Brass [based in Ferrybridge, West Yorkshire]
If anybody knows of or hears about a box trailer being stolen can you get in touch with me please or the Police. It is our Brass Band trailer, all enclosed ,twin axle and is similar to a horse box type trailer. It was stolen on sunday night/monday morning and has a lot of equipment inside it,like Timpani's, Drums, Instruments, music stands, banners, music in cases etc, etc,
Hoping somebody might be able to help as the trailer contained the music for our current programme plus Summer/Patron's concert music, about 40 scores.

Update - 24th May

Thanks to some children out playing in South Kirby, almost all of the contents of the trailer have been recovered. The children found the stuff dumped in the woods and went straight to the police. Fortunately there was no rain and everything recovered was in good condition.

Still missing are the Trailer, 2 timps, a bass drum, a conductors stand and a sack trolley.

The Kellington Independent website - its history

The original Kellington village website was created in 2004 and was sponsored by Kellington Parish Council - they paid the hosting fees for the server and for the name.

It has now been replaced by a new Parish Council owned Kellington website.

I set up the old Kellington village website as a community website for the village, where residents could have their say about anything concerning Kellington. I have set up this new community site - Kellington Independent Website - because I believe Kellington now needs an independent voice, and a place for Kellington people to air their views.

Residents can have their say on the Kellington Independent Website on any topic concerning the village and can use space as they wish to display photos and material of interest to the people of Kellington, record sporting activities, delve into the history and everyday life of Kellington, its residents and its surrounding area etc.

I have now added almost all the relevent data from the old village website, along with new sections and photos. If there are any pictures or articles from the original Kellington website that any resident would really like to be included on the Kellington Independent Website

please contact me and they can appear here.

I hope the Kellington Independent Website will provide a snapshot of what it is really like to live in the village of Kellington in the 2nd decade of the 21st century, and feature some of the things that Kellington folk are doing and thinking, as well as a wealth of photos, videos and stories from Kelllington's past. We have lived here in Kellington for over 40 years, and I can't imagine anywhere we would prefer to live.
